Our Stance
EDUCATIONAL

We fight for an educational system that does not railroad our children into failure, but teaches our
children honor, self-respect, respectable vocations, Chicano studies, and challenges our children
to reach their full educational potential. If this cannot be accomplished through peaceful
negotiations than walkouts and protests must be staged.  If these tactics do not work than a full
boycott of the public educational system must be enacted and Chicano Charter Schools must be
opened to receive and educate our children.  The Brown Berets in conjunction with MEChA and
other Chicano educational organizations must commission a Chicano Educational Steering
Committee that will exhaustively study and fully prepare for any level of action that is taken.
Furthermore we will strive to train and place Chicano educators in public schools and in higher
administrative positions.

SOCIAL

We fight for equality for our Raza and acceptance of our culture. We are not a lesser race, our
culture should never be commercialized as a fad, and we should never be forced to assimilate into
the American melting pot. If we repudiate American values, commercialism, lack of morality,
corruptness, racism, and disorder we definitely reserve the right to do so. As Brown Berets we
cannot dictate society’s morality but we will be examples of Chicanismo that is based upon honor,
respect, dignity, loyalty, and discipline.  We will continue to help our Raza in the communities in
providing for their needs, in defending the widows and the fatherless, and bringing peace to our
barrios and families. We will work with community organizations that focus on resolving
community problems and addressing pressing issues.

SPIRITUAL

We fight for the freedom to worship God in spirit and in truth. It is said that a people without a hope
have no future, but our hope that sustains us is for those prophecies made to our Raza to be
confirmed and Aztlan shall be returned. We will no longer be dictated by perverse and corrupt so-
called “spiritual leaders” that pervert the knowledge of God and faith for their own selfish gain. We
stand against racist religious institutions that brainwash our people to despise their race, the color
of their skin, and their culture. From every pebble of sand, to every blade of grass, to every hair on
our heads, we are what God has made us to be and everything God has created is beautiful. We are
human beings with a purpose in life and a destiny to fulfill and we respect the sanctity of human life
and creation as a whole. We will work with churches, spiritual leaders, and faith organizations that
mirror our values as Chicanos and who will help us in our cause.

ECONOMICAL

We fight for the economic freedom and prosperity of our people. Our people work hard and should
be paid well for their labor. No longer shall we accept being paid “chump change” and confined to
live in poverty and degradation. We deserve and will fight for our Raza to own their businesses and
enjoy the benefits of economic stability. We will work with Chicano business organizations,
chambers of commerce, trade associations, and business owners to build powerful corporations
and Business Associations that will improve the economic conditions of our Raza and encourage,
train, and fund small business ventures for Chicanos. We will strongly encourage the formation of
Chicano owned banks and an Aztlan National Treasury. We will encourage our Raza to seek an
education and training in business administration, accounting, and economic law.

POLITICAL

We fight for a political system free from corruption. We fight for the formation of a political party that
represents Chicanos, our values, and our interests. We fight for representation in every area of
government including the judicial system. We are not democrats, republicans, socialists, or
capitalist and consider them as being inadequate in addressing our needs and solving our
problems. We refuse to be used as pawns by them to advance their agendas.  We have our own
agenda and that is ultimately to form our own nation and government that is for the Raza and by the
Raza. We will strive to work with all Chicano organizations to consolidate our power to influence
and form a congress and write a constitution that is fitting for us.
THE FIVE BATTLEFRONTS
What We Believe

The Brown Berets are dedicated to preserving the past, protecting the present and creating a future throughout the barrios of the world.
We are not bound by borders nor are we limited by political ideology. We are a grassroots organization in its truest form and refuse to
be constrained and categorized by the title of a non-profit organization.

We will build a consensus through community outreach and will strive to help guide our youth towards a future free of oppression,
stereotypes and injustice. We believe that our communities know best how to deal with our unique challenges and as such shall strive to
find the answers and solutions to such challenges from within our own community.

We welcome all individuals regardless of race or gender to participate with us in our mission, however the Brown Berets historically
have been a Chicano Nationalist Organization and shall continue to stay true to their original founding principles.

Our structure is military so that we may have the discipline necessary to organize, mobilize and protect our community. We are
committed to the defense of our Raza and our nation Aztlan and we will do so at all costs.

We are an organization building on a proud history of accomplishments and we recognize that “El Movimiento”  does not belong to one
group of individuals but rather to every Chicano and Chicana that has participated or supported “La Causa” Over the past 40 years.

We recognize all Brown Beret Units throughout the World and shall support them if called upon in their hour of need.

We recognize the mistakes of the past and will learn from them and strive not to repeat them in the future. We are open to dialogue with
any organization however we reserve the right to decide our own future and shall develop a strategy independently of any other
organization.

We are the Brown Berets
