Our Response
I know it might sound self serving to encourage people to join up with the Brown Berets but we know that if we are ever going to make a difference then we need
to take direct action against the injustices that we face on a daily basis across the nation. The Brown Berets are the type of organization that can and has in the
past mobilized thousands of people to confront issues and people who did our community wrong. We hear a lot from people trying to "work within the system" but
that is only an exercise in frivolity because those in power turn a deaf ear to our cries and they do whatever they want to with or without our consent. Honestly if
you want to make a difference you need to get angry. Get angry with those who spit in your face and yet tell you they love you. Get angry with those who tell you
that you are free while enslaving you with taxes, fees, fines, penalties, jail time, foreclosures, bank levies, bad credit, joblessness, homelessness, poverty,
hunger, etc. Get angry with those who murder our children on the streets, corrupt their brains with the idiot box (t.v.), abuse them, push them out of schools,
railroad them into jails or gangs and drugs for it is the only thing that makes some sense to them, their only way to cope in a system that does not give a damn
about them. Once you get angry then you know you have the ability to love, for if you love your people you will get angry at those who are oppress and abuse us.
If you love your people you will do whatever it takes to protect them, fight for them, live for them, and die for them, and then you will be successful at organizing
and leading our people. I know I'm giving you an ear full but truly we need leaders that have passion. If you find yourself already here then join us. We'll help you
organize in the right direction and all of us together we can make things better for our gente, and even for people who are not our gente, they will benefit from it as
well.

You misspelled Karankawa. It is sad and pathetic that you would use the name of one our tribes that became extinct because of American colonialism to
somehow glorify America and its policies. Perhaps you think we are stupid that we would not know anything about our own history and that we would believe you
that you are somehow the only descendant of a tribe that went extinct in 1858. What are you going to say next, that you are the sole descendant of Jesus Christ?!

I have been following the story about the hate crime that recently happened. Of course it was not reported as a hate crime. For some reason the state of Ohio
doesn't consider it as such. According to them it is not even a crime to assault a Mexican. Robert Cantu was dragged behind a moving vehicle with a noose around
his neck. Afterward he was beaten by three white men. Of course all charges were dropped. I ask you is that justice? Why didn't the Federal Government send
